Because the gates are locked, advance bookings are essential so that we can arrange to meet you at the gate and guide you to the camp. GPS co-ordinates for the gate are: S22o33.37 E28o53.25
What can you do when you get here?
Walks and Baobab Trail
You will be given a map so you can explore the reserve on foot and at your own pace, through the different habitats found here. A gentle walk along the river offers the chance to encounter species that are not found in the drier parts of the reserve, while the view from the top of Kremetartkop is not to be missed. There is a marked trail around the foot of Kremetartkop, which passes thirty of the largest baobab trees.Observation Hide/Blind
At number 10 waterhole, an observation hide offers the opportunity to observe a broad range of bird and mammal species undisturbed in their own environment. A morning at the hide will be time very well spent.Relax in Camp
Sitting in a deck chair on the bank of the Mogalakwena River at Lulu’s Camp is one of the great pleasures of your stay. The birdlife is beautiful and varied - gorgeous, lolly-pink carmine bee-eaters and darting woodland kingfishers in summer, Verreauxs Eagle owls in the tall trees along the river, and you could be lucky enough to spot an African finfoot paddling past. Shy bushbuck and burly waterbuck forage along the river and at night tiny, athletic bushbabies leap through the trees overhead. A splash in the 10 metre swimming pool is welcome during the heat of summer. At sunset, with the smoke from your braai drifting up through the leaves of the nyala berry trees, the screeching call of noisy francolins heralds the dark. As you zip yourself into your tent, the soft, repetitive whistle of the fiery-necked nightjar calls "good lord, deliver us". Another day in the African bush has come to an end.![]() |
