Location
Makulu Makete Wildlife Reserve is situated in Limpopo Province, South Africa, close to the border with Botswana, 25 km west of Alldays on the R572. The Mogalakwena River, a tributary of the Limpopo, meanders for 13 km through the reserve, and Madia Pala Mountain and Kremetartkop hill dominate the landscape. The symbol of Makulu Makete, the baobab tree, is a feature of the landscape, with more than 200 of these mighty trees scattered across the reserve. The greatest density of baobabs occurs around the foot of Kremetartkop, where a marked trail, covering six kilometres of easy walking, links thirty of the biggest baobabs.
